Introduction to the film festival

The Rural Film Week (formerly known as the China Farmers Film Festival) is one of the key events of the China Farmers Harvest Festival, having been successfully held for seven consecutive years. Over the past seven years, the Rural Revitalization Film Recommendation Initiative has promoted 110 films. Accompanied by the festival, public welfare film screenings organized offline have surpassed 20,000 sessions, while the online "Cloud Cinema" platform has benefited millions of farmers. More than 70 film industry representatives, including Image Ambassador Wang Baoqiang and Public Screening Ambassador Lin Yongjian, have continuously advocated for the development of rural cinema.

In 2024, the festival innovated its practices to benefit agriculture, enriched its activities, and enhanced media promotion. It was upgraded and renamed the "2024 China Farmers Harvest Festival · Rural Film Week". Co-organized by seven institutions including the General Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the China Film Association, the China Agricultural Film and Television Center (CAFTC), the China Federation of Radio and Television Associations, the China Council for the Promotion of Construction in the Old Revolutionary Areas, the China Science Education Film and Television Association, and the Chinese Science Writers' Association, with CAFTC as the implementing body, the festival set its main venue in Yingshang County, Fuyang City, Anhui Province. Key activities included the Opening CeremonySpecial Film Screenings, the Rural Revitalization Theme Film Recommendation Initiative, the Central Media Research Tour, and the Rural Film Night. Through year-round, all-media, full-process, nationwide promotion, its influence grew significantly. According to People's Daily Online Public Opinion Monitoring Center statistics, its 2024 online engagement exceeded 1.79 billion, marking its fourth consecutive year of inclusion in the annual "Chronicle of Major Events in Chinese Cinema".

The event adheres to the principles of "Farmers as the Core, Agriculture as the Focus, Rural Areas as the Stage, Public Welfare as the Foundation, and Film as the Medium." It aims to support the building of an agricultural powerhouseactivate rural cultural vitalityempower local industrial development, and promote the experience of the "Ten Million Project". It has earned high recognition from the organizing institutions and local governments, and is deeply cherished by the people.

### Annual Theme 1. Theme of the year "Rural Revitalization, Building Dreams with Light and Shadow" 2025 marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of world cinema and the 120th anniversary of the birth of Chinese cinema. In this new development stage, in-depth implementation of the national policy documents on comprehensively promoting rural revitalization is being carried out. Activities focus on collecting and promoting a group of innovative practical achievements that demonstrate "the coordinated development of rural revitalization and ecological civilization." These achievements reflect themes such as the "Millions of Engineering" project, beautiful rural areas, green agriculture, and the inheritance of rural culture in excellent films. Through the vivid presentation of light and shadow art, the beauty of the ecology, the prosperity of industry, and the humanistic charm of rural areas in the new era are showcased, promoting the sustainable development concept of harmonious coexistence between people and nature, and demonstrating the struggle process of the people in building and sharing a beautiful life together. ### Timelines - Collection stage: From the date of announcement until July 31, 2025 - Selection stage: August to September 2025 - Announcement stage: September 2025 ### Requirements for Selected Films 1. Selected films should have obtained the "Film Screening Permit" issued by the National Film Bureau from August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025, or should have premiered during this period. 2. The submission of the selected film data sheet indicates that the producer owns the copyright of the work or has obtained authorization for all copyright content of the work, including participation in recommended activities. The organizing committee does not assume any legal responsibility for disputes over works, and the legal responsibility lies with the producer. 3. The submission materials include: - Data sheet of the selected film: Fill it truthfully and completely, with the official seal of the unit and signature on the hard copy. - Photocopy of the "Film Screening Permit" issued by the National Film Bureau. - Video file: Send a USB drive to the organizing committee office or send a cloud disk link to the organizing committee email. The video format should be MOV or MP4, with H264 encoding and HD 1920*1080 resolution. - Film script (Word document format). - Each work must submit a 60-second trailer for promotional use. - Posters and stills: 3–5 images; jpeg format; 300dpi. - Introduction of the producer and key creators (no less than 300 words). ### Submission Method - Electronic materials should be sent to: - Physical forms (sealed) and CDs/USBs should be sent by express mail to the following address: Beijing Haidian District Zhongguancun South Street No. 10 (2025 Rural Revitalization Theme Film Recommendation Office) (Zip code: 100081) ### Utilization of Works Data 1. For the convenience of promotional activities, the organizing committee has the right to use stills, 60-second trailers, or 3-minute content of works in printed materials, promotional videos, TV, the internet, and public places. 2. All submitted materials will be used by the organizing committee for archiving and will not be returned. 3.
