This year's Ningbo Excellent Film and Television Works Award has seven units: promotional films, documentaries, advertising films, short videos, AIGC short films, special attention (short plays, scripts, movies, music, popular science, post-production, etc.), and overseas boutiques (feature films, etc.), and all domestic and overseas submissions are accepted.

Work requirements

1. Promotional film unit

Brand promotion organized by the government and enterprises created in 2024 (except for those submitted for evaluation last year), mainly with narration or sound and pictures, etc., can have a small amount of plot or actor dialogue. The duration shall not exceed 8 minutes.

2. Documentary unit

The documentary category is still mainly based on the Ningbo Documentary Award (Social Organization) Government Award. Since many teams and independent creators do not meet the conditions for applying for the "Radio and Television Program Production and Operation License", this category will adopt the method of "unified collection, unified selection, and two awards" to ensure that no pearls are left behind, that is, documentaries that do not meet the external conditions for the government award under the same artistic standards will also receive corresponding awards.

(1) Micro-documentary: duration not exceeding 10 minutes (inclusive);

(2) Short documentary: duration 11 minutes to 30 minutes (inclusive);

(3) Long documentary: duration over 30 minutes;

(4) Series documentary: no limit on the duration of a single episode, 3 episodes (inclusive) or more.

Note: The Ningbo Radio and Television Society will issue a separate document for the Ningbo Documentary Award (Social Organization) Government Award, and you can submit additional works and materials at that time. There are three rigid conditions: 1. The creation unit must have a "Radio and Television Program Production and Operation License", 2. The documentary must be filed at the provincial level or above, and 3. The creation or copyright unit must be in Ningbo.

3. Advertising unit

This unit includes public service advertisements, commercial TVCs, film and television trailers, etc. Duration is less than 2 minutes.

4. Short video unit

This unit includes mobile videos, social platform self-media videos, product or service promotion videos, mainly in horizontal screen, and duration is less than 5 minutes.

5. AIGC Short Film Unit

This unit includes short films generated or assisted by artificial intelligence technology, including but not limited to feature films, MVs, commercials, short videos of characters, scenes, special effects, etc. In principle, the length of short films shall not exceed 30 minutes. You are welcome to choose works published in "Literature Port" magazine (see the attachment "Literature Port" AIGC Alternative Works") for creation, and encourage creation around Ningbo's "scenery, customs, scenery, elegance, and customs".

6. Special attention unit (short plays, scripts, movies, music, science, post-production, etc.)

This unit focuses on the excellence and innovation in the main video business areas of the year, such as short plays, scripts, movies, music, science, post-production and other directions. The video length shall not exceed 15 minutes, except for the film works of members of the Ningbo Microfilm Association; the popular science short film will be submitted to the annual popular science micro film competition of the Microfilm Committee of the China Science and Education Film and Television Association; the script is encouraged to use the "AI Wenshengwen" technology to create around Ningbo's "scenery, customs, scenery, elegance, and customs".

7. Overseas boutique unit

This unit mainly collects short dramas, short dramas with horizontal and vertical screens, experimental short films, and documentaries.

Technical requirements

1. The film must be an original film output of 1080P or higher high-definition video, MP4 or MOV format, and the bit rate does not exceed 30M. All entries must be completed or released on or after January 1, 2024, and the screen must not have additional watermarks. The poster requires one horizontal and one vertical version in jpg format.

2. Please provide a high-definition mp4 file of less than 3 minutes for the highlights or trailer.

3. The submitted work must be a complete product, with a brief introduction to the work, a list of the main creative staff, a copyright statement, a poster, an application form, a membership registration form (only for new members in Ningbo), etc. Upload it on the Sfilmmaker platform to register online. The WORD electronic document font requires the title to be Songti No. 2 and the text to be Fangsong No. 3.

Review and commendation

The organizing committee will set up a professional review committee (including industry experts, scholars and representatives of previous winners) to evaluate films from March to May 2025 using a three-level review mechanism of preliminary review, re-review and final review to ensure that each work can be fully evaluated. For special attention units, consider inviting professionals in related fields to conduct special reviews to ensure professionalism and pertinence. This event will not hold an offline award ceremony unless necessary, but will hold online or offline exchange activities during the 2025 award ceremony according to the wishes of the contestants.

With the authorization of the participating entity, the participating or winning works will be exhibited on the organizing committee's resource platform and officially organized offline film festivals at home and abroad to expand their influence.

Special reminder

1. All entries must comply with the rules of the event to ensure originality and no copyright disputes. Participants must submit their works and related materials in the prescribed format, and will not be accepted after the deadline.

2. Cross-submissions can be made to related units, but no duplicate awards will be awarded.

3. Submitted works will be directly transferred (automatically transferred) to the corresponding units of other competitions held by Ningbo Micro Film Association this year.

4. You are welcome to choose to publish your works in "Literary Port" magazine for creation; we encourage creation around Ningbo's "scenery, customs, scenery, elegance, and customs".

5. This competition does not have a prize money for the time being unless it has been sponsored.

6. Ningbo film and television organizations and independent creators are welcome to join the Ningbo Micro Film Association.
