Introduction to the film festival

CHILEMONOS Festival is organized by CHILEMONOS Foundation, a non-profit organization that promote, encourage and develop the Chilean and Latin American animation to the world. Since 2012 we have developed CHILEMONOS Festival, a space created with the goal to be the principal cultural event of animation and a diffusion platform of this kind of contents in Chile and Latin American.

The first version of CHILEMONOS took place in 2012, as a pioneer activity in our country, today, 14 version later, CHILEMONOS Festival is part to list “Qualifying Festivals to Oscar Prize”, this means that since our eighth version, the winners to Best International Short Film and Best Latin American Short Film may be eligible to be part to official classification of Academy prize.

    Official selection focused on showcasing international short films. Works with a running time between 2 and 30 minutes (excluding all credits and/or title sequences) will be considered as short films. This is an international call, excluding Chile and the rest of Latin America. This category awards: - Trophy for Best International Animated Short Film - Digital certificate The CHILEMONOS International Animation Festival is an Academy Award® qualifying festival recognized by the AMPAS. This means that the winning film of the International Animated Short Film Competition may be eligible for consideration in the Oscar® Animated Short Film category, provided it meets all official Academy rules.

  • International School Short Film Competition
    Video length ：2 - 30
    Competition aimed at exhibiting short films produced under the guidance of educational institutions such as schools, colleges, universities or vocational schools, released either while enrolled or as a final senior project. Works with a running time between 2 and 30 minutes (excluding all credits and/or title sequences) Projects conceived as series, series pilots, music videos, trailers, feature teasers, or any other non–short film format will not be accepted. Each Work must specify in the credits of the Work, the identification of the School, University or Professional Institute where the Work was produced, placing the name of the institution and/or its logo. The Works must be produced in a country not located in Latin America or Chile. This category awards: - Trophy to the Best International School Short Film. - Digital certificate
