5 Film & Photo Award Festival
The 5 Photo & Film Award is an international event for photography and film with the intention to create a bridge between different countries and cultures. The festival is inspired by a 500 years old tree in the suburb of Damavand, located in the village of Aro.
This tree has been the subject of photographs of international director and photographer Abbas Kiarostami every year in different seasons for many years. His photographs have been exhibited under the title “Snow White” in world-renowned galleries such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Contemporary Art in New York.
About 6 years ago, Mehdi Shadizadeh, a documentary photographer and filmmaker and the founder of 6 5 Film & Photo Awards Festival photographed this tree again and created the festival to celebrate this cultural and iconic symbol, which symboliyes Abbas Kiarostami’s artistic legacy.

The number “5” is derived from the movie “5” made by Abbas Kiarostami, which has been published in 2002 and contains 5 scenes with the average duration of 16 minutes.

The General and main Statement of the International 5 Film & Photo Award Festival

Festival 5 is a prestigious and large festival for film and photography. This festival supports artists from all over the world by awarding exquisite prizes. We have been holding this festival for five years. Our goal is to find independent and modern artists. We support independent artists. Artists who have worked hard to produce their works



International 5 Film & Photo Award Festival is a Festival that is specially established in the field of Film & Documentary & Photography and Video Art, and its main goal is Conceptual Art in Image and meaning.

In other words, Conceptual art in Image and meaning share a kind of personal point of view, a special Message and a Metaphorical Concept with the audience and create a new kind of Image (Image heresy).

Or in other words, we say poetry in the field of Art.

And the main goal of this Festival is to search for this poetry, whether it is in the form of a Film, Documentary, Photo, or Video Art.

Awards

The First Prize for Feature and Short Films – or The Abbas Kiarostami Golden Single Tree Award – includes a $500 cash prize in each category, along with the presentation of the prestigious Golden Single Tree Trophy and an international certificate signed and stamped by the Festival Director and the Head of the Jury.




Special Jury Prize – "New Vision" or the "Abbas Kiarostami Golden Camera" Award

This award is considered one of the most prestigious artistic honors of the festival and is presented to a work that stands out for its poetic and meaningful cinematic expression.



The winner will receive a $500 cash prize, along with the exquisitely crafted Abbas Kiarostami Golden Camera Trophy, and an official international certificate signed by the Festival Director and the Head of the Jury.

Honorary Diploma for Best Short and Feature-Length Documentary

Awarded in both categories, each winner will receive a $500 cash prize, along with the prestigious Abbas Kiarostami Golden Single Tree Trophy, and a highly recognized international certificate signed and stamped by the Festival Director and the Head of the Jury.

Best Video Art Award

The recipient of this award will receive a Fujifilm instant camera, the Golden Single Tree Trophy of Abbas Kiarostami, and a recognized international certificate signed and stamped by the Festival Director and the Head of the Jury.

1. Eligible Sections for Submission
Films can be submitted to the following sections:
Main Competition
Out of Competition
Un Certain Regard
Classics Section
La Cinef (Student Films)
Caméra d’Or (Best First Feature Film)
2. Preselection Conditions
Eligibility Criteria:
The production date of the film is not a limiting factor, but the film must not have been previously submitted to this festival.
Selected films, whether in competition or parallel sections, will be screened in Iranian cinemas in a limited format.

Film Duration:
Feature films: Over 60 minutes
Short films: Between 15 to 40 minutes (including credits)

3. Technical Requirements and Submission
Accepted formats:
DCP, Blu-ray, DVD, or online upload for both short and feature films.

Upload specifications for short films:
Maximum file size: 8 GB
Accepted formats: mp4, mov, avi, etc.
Audio: PCM 48kHz
Subtitles: Required in English or Persian for films not in English or Persian.

4. Deadlines
La Cinef (Student Films):
Short Films: Submission deadline: August 30, 2025
Feature Films: Submission deadline: August 30, 2025

5. Submission Fees
This festival is dedicated to supporting independent cinema and does not charge any submission fees for its services.

6. Subtitles
Films must be in the original language of the country of production, with English or Persian subtitles provided.

7. Selection and Screening
If a film is selected, the final screening copy must be uploaded in DCP or 35mm format for theatrical screening.
Only filmmakers whose works are selected for competition and awards will be invited to attend the festival.
Since the festival does not charge any submission or participation fees, travel expenses (round trip) are the responsibility of the filmmaker.
However, the festival will provide official invitation letters and will **offer accommodation support
