Introduction to the film festival
Phare International Film Festival – Mauritius has been created by a talented group of local entrepreneurs and film-makers. After successfully producing their own productions, and entering festivals, they understood the need to enhance the local film industry.
Mauritius is paradise, and has been a location for many high profile documentaries, series and films – yet the impact on our industry locally was insignificant. We decided to create a platform that not only encourages local film makers but offers the potential to showcase their talent further afield. Likewise, showcasing International cinema, we promote the wonderful Island called Mauritius to the outside world.
Our philosophy is to showcase incredible talent along with high quality independent films to the audience of Mauritius, opening a door to a new potential market. We have adopted an informal and relaxed festival approach, with the glamour of much larger festivals.
